CLASSIC PATHWAYS (U9 - U19)

CLASSIC PATHWAYS OVERVIEW

Following participation in the Micro Program (U4–U8), players transition into the Nazareth Soccer Club (NSC) Classic Program. While Micro teams are generally formed by age group and assigned randomly, Classic teams are organized based on player skill level, development, and long-term growth goals.

The NSC Classic Program offers two pathways for players:

Recreational and Travel soccer.

Travel teams are typically formed following annual evaluations held each spring. Coaches and club leadership assess players to place them in environments that best support their development. Grouping players with similar skill levels allows coaches to tailor training more effectively and helps the Club place teams in the most appropriate level of competition.

The Recreational pathway emphasizes player development, enjoyment, and a positive soccer experience.

KEY PROGRAM INFORMATION

  • Parent and Player Commitment

Unlike the Micro Program, which is primarily held within Nazareth Borough and Bushkill Township, all Classic teams compete against neighboring communities. Families should be prepared for some travel throughout the season.

Travel teams may occasionally travel 1–2 hours for league games or tournaments.

  • League Placement

Once teams are formed, NSC works closely with each team’s coach to determine the most appropriate league placement for the upcoming season. League placement decisions consider factors such as roster composition, player development, and the varying levels of competition within regional leagues.

NSC teams most commonly participate in the following leagues:

    TRAVEL

    • Inter-County Youth Soccer League (ICSL) Age group structure: U8, U9, U10, U11, etc.
    • Lehigh Valley Youth Soccer League (LVYSL) Age group structure: U9, U10, U11, etc.

    RECREATIONAL

    • Blue Mountain Youth Soccer League (BMYSL) Age group structure: U10, U12, U14, etc.

In certain seasons, some NSC travel teams may also compete in additional leagues or tournaments, including:

    • ROCK Spring League (Bucks County)
    • EDP Soccer (interstate competition)
  • Tournaments

NSC encourages all teams to participate in tournaments throughout the year as part of the player development experience.

    • Travel teams typically participate in two tournaments per season.
    • Recreational teams competing in BMYSL participate in the Garcia Cup each fall season at no additional cost.

Additional tournaments may involve separate registration fees and increased travel requirements.

Tournaments provide players and teams with opportunities to:

    • Compete against new opponents
    • Play multiple matches in a weekend setting
    • Build team chemistry and camaraderie
  • Costs

NSC remains committed to providing an accessible and affordable soccer experience for families. While Classic Program fees are higher than those in the Micro Program, they remain among the most affordable in the Lehigh Valley — particularly for travel soccer.

Families are responsible for purchasing player uniforms during registration; however, uniforms are designed for use across multiple seasons.

Registration costs vary depending on whether a player participates in the Travel or Recreational pathway.
